The health condition of Dr. Wazed Miah, husband of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and also a reputed nuclear scientist, yesterday improved slightly but could not go out of danger.

Hospital Dr Sanwar Hossain said, "His condition is on the way of betterment but he is not out of danger. We have arranged better treatment for him."

He also informed that Wazed was suffering from diabetes, blood pressure and kidney ailments alongside the cardiac problems and sometimes the situation become complicated when someone is exposed to multiple complications."

"Usually it takes six to seven week to recover from this kind of health complication. so nothing to be panicked but have to wait," Sanwar said.

Talking to reporters Hossain opined not to send Wazed Miah abroad for better treatment in view of his complicated health condition and said, "We are maintaining communication with some world reputed doctors through internet. If necessary we will certainly take him abroad."

A Square Hospital spokesman informed the journalists that the artificial respiratory system, which was installed for his breathing was removed yesterday, as he was breathing normally. Earlier Wazed Maih underwent MRI but the doctors found nothing unusual.

Sheikh Hasina went to the hospital at 3pm and spent some time beside Dr Wajed. She enquired about his latest health condition and treatment from the attending doctors and she became gloomy.

The Prime Minister's scheduled visit to the United States, Britain and Canada was deferred because of deterioration of the health condition of Dr. Wazed.

President Zillur Rahman, Former president HM Ershad, deputy leader of the parliament and Awami League (AL) presidium member Sajeda Chowdhury, Home Minister Advocate Sahara Khatun, LGRD Minister Syed Ashraful Islam, Commerce Minister Col. (retd) Faruk Khan, Dhaka City Corporation Mayor Sadek Hossain Khoka, the Prime Minister's health adviser professor Modasser Ali and several ministers and politicians went to see ailing Wajed Mia, but they were hardly allowed to see him in view of his health condition.

Meanwhile different associate organisations of AL including Jubo League, Secchasebok League and Dhaka City Awami League arranged Milad Mahfil seeking immediate recovery of Dr. Wazed Mia.

Sheikh Hasina and her family members urged the countrymen to pray for his early recovery.

Earlier, Dr Wazed went to Singapore last March for treatment at the National Heart Centre where he underwent angioplasty.
