Investigation Officer (IO) of Khilkhet Thana in the city sought a 5-day remand against arrested eight banned Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) outfits, while Metropolitan Magistrate Munshi Abdul Majid granted a 3-day remand yesterday for their interrogation.

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the outfits: Tariqullah alias Rubel 20, Md. Sumon alias Abdullah 18, Yusuf Al Asadullah Bin Wahidullah 21, Zahadur Rahman Zahid 28, Hasanuzzaman 26, Anwar Hossain alias Baten 30, Abu Sayeed alias Parvez 25 and Abdul Matin alias Zakir 32 in the capital early Sunday at a house at Khilkhet of the city.

Acting on a tip-off, RAB members raided the house of Maulana Wazuddin at Tekpara of Khilkhet and arrested the suspects as assembled there for a meeting.

The RAB said they had been watchful about JMB activities after the execution of their top six leaders and arrested the Dhaka Divisional Commander Mohtasim Billah on February 20 and on his statement came to know about the present members of the banned organisation and their activities in the city.
