Chhatra Maitry confce: Uniform education system suggested DU Correspondent Speakers at a conference said diversity in education system is hampering our national development. So the government should take attempt to establish a uniform and scientific education system. Education should be generalised for all walks of life for sustainable development. This was noted at a two-day long National Education Conference'09 of Bangladesh Chhatra Maitri (BCM) at the TSC auditorium on the Dhaka University campus yesterday. Comrade Rashed Khan Menon, President of Worker's party of Bangladesh inaugurated the conference as chief guest. Prof Syed Anwar Hossain, one of the Ekushe Award holders of 2009 presented keynote paper titled `The difficulties and solutions of our education system' at the conference. Rashed Khan Menon said the government of Bangladesh had formed several Education Commissions in course of time, but no one was successful. `The present government would be successful if it could establish a scientific education system', he hoped. In the keynote paper, Prof Anwar Hossain condemned the privatisation and commercialisation of the education. He said now riches are purchasing knowledge by money but the poor are being deprived of. He also laid emphasis on reformation of the education system. Several hundred students from different parts of the country attended the conference. Among others dramatist Mamunur Rashid was present at the conference, which was presided over by BCM president Rafiqul Islam Sujon.
