New Nation Cox's Bazar correspondent seriously wounded by miscreants Our Correspondent, Cox Bazar The New Nation Cox's Bazar correspondent MH Arman Chowdhury was seriously wounded by unidentified miscreants on March 12 while he was returning to his village home at Chakria from his work place at Cox's Bazar headquarters. A press release of the Cox's Bazar District Sangbadik Samity on March 14 said about 12/14 unidentified armed miscreants attacked him at the IVP field in the evening while he was returning to his village home from his workplace seriously injuring him. Local people rescued him and admitted him to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital. Chowdhury underwent surgical operations twice on his body and he did not regain sense yet. Cox's Bazar Unit of Bangladesh Sangbadik Samity President Faridul Alam Shahid, Vice-President Kamal Hossain Azad, Ramzan Ali Sikder, Towhid Belal, Organising secretary Sarwar Azam Manik, Joint Secretary Nupa Alam, Printing Secretary Polash Charma, Publicity Secretary Abdul Matin Chowdhury, Office secretary Faridul Mostafa Khan, executive committee members Iqram Chowdhury Tipu, M Shahjahan Chowdhury Shahin, Nurul Amin Siddiqui, Shefaul Uddin and Kaiser Hamid in a joint statement condemned the attack on Chowdhury and demanded immediate arrest of the persons responsible for the attack. Office bearers of the of the Chakaria Press Club also issued a joint statement in which they made the same demand of arresting the culprits and give deterrent punishment to them for the attack. They include president of the press club AKM Giasuddin, Secretary Zahirul Islam, vice-president AM Omar Ali, Zahirul Islam Zahur, and Bashir Al Mamun.
