Country's one of the leading cultural organisation Chhayanaut will hold a three-day music festival of pure music at its auditorium in Dhanmondi in the city from January 15 to 17. Some 23 musicians from across the country would perform at the festival. BRAC Bank Ltd will sponsor the festival.

Noted musician of Chhayanaut Khurshid Khan is expected to inaugurate the festival at 5:30pm on January 15.

After the inauguration, six artistes - Moidul Islam, Feroz Khan, Fakir Shahidul Islam, Rezaul Karim, Priyanka Gope and Jagadananda Roy - will perform. The next day programme featuring performances of Asit Dey, Satindranath Haldar, Shibnath Das, Swarup Hossain, Bijan Chandra Mistri, Nakib Mahmood and Latifun Julio will begin at 8:00am and will continue till noon.

The festival will end presenting an eleven-hour performance that will begin at 7:00pm and will continue till 8:00am.

This was disclosed at a press conference at the Chhayanaut Bhaban in the city recently. Dr Sanjida Khatun, Sarwar Ali, Anup Barua, Rezwan Ali, among others, were present at the conference.

Dr Sanjida Khatun said, "Though there is no alternative to pure music to search for the roots of Bengali music, the trend of listening to such genre of music, singing and practising is poor. Singers who performed last year, will not be allowed to sing this year."

Khan, Alauddin Miah, Yusuf Ali Khan, Gazi Abdul Hakim, Anil Kumar Saha and Iftekhar Alam will perform, said the organisers.
