Malpractices in NGOs

The management committees of non-government organisations will be changed soon through a new ordinance.

The executive committee of local NGOs are not functioning well as almost all the members are relatives in the executive committee and actually they are one-person organisations.

Normally the Executive Director (ED) is the head of this organisation and all the staffs carry out his/her order. Executive Director always thinks about grabbing money using his/her staff unethically and staff have to work too many hours and they have to stay even after office hours and also work in holidays.

If anyone cannot satisfy, he/she will be fired on the next day. So the NGO staff are always in mental pressure of losing their jobs and work long hour under pressure. Staff have to cut a portion of their salaries and give the same to the ED's special fund in some local NGOs.

It is said that these money will given back to the staffs with interest but eventually it does not happen. NGO staffs are deprived in other way also, during the interview, ED negotiate with the applicant regarding reduced salary though salary mentioned in the advertisement is higher. He who will give more extortion to ED, will get the job.

Extortion in local NOGs will be reduced if we formulate an effective management committee to run the local NGOs!
