Listed terrorist killed in N'ganj gunfight

A listed terrorist was killed in a gun battle between the members of law enforcing agencies at Dewanbagh of Madanpur beside Dhaka-Chittagong highway under Bandar upazila in the early hours of Monday.

RAB and police recovered some arms and ammunition from the spot after the gun battle.

Police sources said the dead was identified as Abul Hossain, 45, son of late Kamal Uddin of village Muradpur under Bandar upazila in the district.

Acting on a secret information, a team of RAB and police raided Dewanbagh area at around 3.00 am on Monday. Sensing the presence of the law enforcers the terrorists opened fire on them which was retaliated by the law enforcers.

Abul Hossain was hit by a bullet during the gun battle and he died on the spot while his accomplices managed to escape.

Police recovered one shooter-gun, six cartridges and a mobile phone set from the spot.

Police said Abul Hossain was wanted by Sonargaon and Bandar police as he was an accused in 23 cases including two murder cases.

The body was sent to Narayanganj General Hospital for autopsy.
