Event: Artist Kibria’s birthday celebrated Staff Reporter Artist Mohammad Kibria's 80th birth anniversary was on January 1. To celebrate the day of the country's one of the prominent artists Kibria, Bengal Foundation organised a programme at Bengal Shilpalaya in Dhanmondi in the city on Friday. Noted personalities including educationists, litterateurs and artists were present at the function and celebrated the day with reminiscences of the artworks of the noted artist. Architect Abdus Salam, artists Qayyum Chowdhury, Mostafa Monwar, Farida Zaman, Nurul Islam, Monirul Islam, Abu Taher, Gulshan Hossain, Hashem Khan, Rafiqun Nabi, Biren Shom, Rezaul Karim, Kalidas Karmakar, Enamul Haque, Sayeeda Kamal Tulu, Ranojit Das, Khalid Mahmood Mithu and Abul Bark Alvi, actor Keramat Mowla, among others, were present at the function and wished the artist long life. Besides, politicians Abul Maal Abdul Muhit and Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, former chairman of the Privatisation Commission Enam Ahmed Chowdhury, human rights activist Kushi Kabir and Chairman of Bengal Foundation Abul Khayer Litu were also present on the occasion. Mohammad Kibria was born on January 1, 1929 in Birbhum of the West Bengal in India. He graduated from Kolkata Government Art Institute in 1950 and later pursued higher studies in fine arts in Japan. He is a recipient of 'Ekushey Padak,' 'Swadhinata Padak,' and many other awards from home and abroad. Dhaka University selected him as a professor emeritus last year.
