Newsman dead

Veteran journalist Fazlur Rahman, who had been suffering from liver cancer since long, died at Netaji Suvash Chandra Basu Hospital in Kolkata Monday night. He was 59.

He will be buried at the district central graveyard after namaj-e-janaza at Aliya Madrassah ground after zohr prayers today (Wednesday), family sources said.

He was born at Shahipara in the district town in 1949. He left behind his widow, two sons and one daughter and a host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.

Beginning his journalism career with Dhaka based weekly Ittehad in 1968 Fazlu was the founder member of local press club and club's president until his death.

He was also involved with various social organizations during his lifetime.
