Theatre News: Rupankar presents Subochon Nirbasone

Rupankar Cultural Centre, a non-profitable organisation, staged one of the legendary creation of late playwright, actor, director and former director general of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Abdullah Al Mamun's 'Subochon Nirbasone.' at the National Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) on December 26. Nadezhda Farzana Moushumi, CEO of Rupankar Cultural Centre and student of Abdullah Al Mamun, gave direction of the play.

Eminent play actress Ferdousi Mazumdar inaugurated the stage performance of the play. She recalled the memories of late Abdullah Al Mamun.

Dipok Bhowmik, Kawsar Rajib, Saikat, Ershad Hasan, Golam Shahriar Rabbi Sikto, RA Shaon, Nadezhda Farzana Moushumi, Shamim and Tondra have performed in the roles of father, Khokon, Topon, friend, boss, clerk, judge, inspector and Ranu respectively.

Hasan Ahmed was in stage design, while Abu Daud Ashrafi associated him. Abu Daud Ashrafi gave light direction and Irin Parvin Lopa planned dresses and props. Subhashish Dutta Tonmoy was in art direction, while Tondra associated him. Atique Ahmed planned music, while Ershad Hasan coordinated the event.

Story of Subochon Nirbasone:

An honest schoolteacher along with his two sons and a daughter has been living in the city. His elder son was a good student but does not get any job. Khokon's friend was not a good student but he got a job. Khokon protested the matter and for this reason, police sent him to prison. His younger brother does not respect his father's ideology. Khokon's only daughter left her husband house due to failure of not to lobby for husband's promotion. The story of the play represented a true picture of the society.

Rupankar Cultural Centre started its journey on January 1, 2007. Main aim of the centre is to raise voice against irregularities in the society and violence against human rights.
