At least 16 persons were injured when to passenger trains collided at Rajendrapur station in the district at around 7 am yesterday, police sources said.

Three seriously injured persons were identified as M Sanu Mia, 60, of Chittagong, Faruque Mia, 28 of Narsingdi and Nur Mohammad, 55, mess waiter of Jessore Cantonment. Rajendrapur Station sources told BSS that the accident occurred when a passenger train from Dhaka named Mohua (43-UP) collided head-on with another train Bharmaputra-744 from Bahadurabad at the station leaving the persons injured.

The injured were sent to Gazipur Sadar Hospital and Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka after giving first aid at Rajendrapur CMH.
