Bijoy Utsab of Sammilito Sangskritik Jote Staff Reporter Like previous years cultural organisation Sammilito Sangskritik Jote organised a four-day Victory Day celebration titled 'Bijoy Utsab' to mark the Victory Day on December 16. The festival was inaugurated on December 13 at the Central Shaheed Minar premises by the relatives and family members of the seven 'Bir Shrestha.' This is the 19th Victory Day celebration by the Sammilito Sangskritik Jote. This year the Jote is holding programmes at two venues in the city - at Central Shaheed Minar and Rabindra Sarobar in Dhanmondi. At the inaugural day, the festival began with a one-minute-silence honouring the martyrs of the Liberation War. Artistes of Dhaka Unit of Bangladesh Rabindra Sangeet Shilpi Sangstha rendered the National Anthem. Recitation artiste Ahkam Ullah, also member of the Sammilito Sangskritik Jote, read out a proposal letter. After a dance performance by artistes of 'Spondon' Ashraful Alam and Laila Afroz recited inspirational poems. Later Golam Kuddus, Mannan Hira, President of Bangladesh Pathonatok Parishad, Kazi Arif, Convenor of 'Bijoy Utsab 2008,' Habibullah Siraji, Dr, Mohammad Samad, Mamunur Rashid, M Hamid, Chairman, Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation and Nasiruddin Yousuff, President of Sammilito Sangskritik Jote, spoke on the occasion. The festival will end today.
