Event : Bijoy Mela today

To celebrate the Victory Day, Channel i is going to organise a daylong programme titled 'Wheel- Channel i Bijoy Mela' (Victory Fair) today (December 16) at its Tejgaon office premises. The event will be aired live on Channel i from 11:05am to 6:00pm today.

The programme will include songs, recitations, plays, interviews, recounting of memories of the war and more. There will also be a book fair, painting and photography exhibitions on the Liberation War as well. This was disclosed at a press conference organised by Channel i at its Siddeswari office in the city yesterday. The 25-minute conference was also aired live from 12:30pm on the channel.

Country's noted painter Hashem Khan, Managing Director of Impress Telefilm Ltd and Channel i Faridur Reza Sagar, two main coordinators of the fair senior programme managers of Channel i Amirul Islam and Shahidul Alam Sachchu, among others, were present at the conference. Sagar in his speech said, "Artistes of the 'Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra,' cultural personalities, freedom fighters, members of the 'Swadhin Bangla Football Team,' members of the Sector Commnaders Forum, 'Bangladesh Swadhinota Shilpi Samaj' and editors of different dailies will participate in the festival." Country's eminent artists including Quayyum Chowdhury, Hashem Khan, Rafiqun Nabi, Biren Shome, Alakesh Ghosh, Monirul Islam, Moniruzzaman, Farida Zaman, Shahid Kabir and Jamal Ahmed will participate in painting and drawing programme to memorise the Liberation War by their artworks in the daylong event, he said.

In the fair there will be stalls of the Liberation War Museum where various memorable things will be on display, said the organisers.

Besides, dance, recitation and song will be present at the daylong event. Country's noted artistes will render songs to honour the martyred of the Liberation War and freedom fighters. Therefore various cultural organisations will perform at the 'Bijoy Mela.'
