President urges Sudan to recruit Bangladeshi agro-experts

President Professor Dr Iajuddin Ahmed on Monday urged the Sudanese government to recruit agro-experts from Bangladesh to expedite their agricultural development.

"Sudan can recruit Bangladeshi experts to meet some of their needs, especially in agriculture, IT, pharmaceuticals, education and other sectors," he said while Ambassador of Sudan to Bangladesh Daffa-Alla Elhag Ali Osman made a farewell call on him at Bangabhaban here.

The President welcomed the outgoing ambassador at the Bangabhaban and praised him for his sincere endeavors in further strengthening relations between the two brotherly countries during his tenure.

He said Bangladesh would like to work for closer ties with Sudan in the fields of economy, agriculture, education and trade.

"Sudan can import Bangladeshi world class standard products including ships, pharmaceuticals, readymade garments and ceramics at competitive prices," Prof Iajuddin said.

The President suggested that Khartoum could share the experience of Nobel laureate Dr Muhammad Yunus's micro credit programme in Bangladesh to alleviate poverty in Sudan.

The President emphasized the exchange of visits by experts, teachers and students for further enhancing the bilateral cooperation and relations between the two countries.

Prof Iajuddin told the envoy that the country's upcoming general elections would be held in a free, fair and credible manner on December 29.

Ambassador Ali Osman stated that the existing bilateral relations between Sudan and Bangladesh are excellent and it would be further strengthened in the days to come.

The envoy highly praised the role of Bangladeshi UN peacekeepers in Sudan and said the peacekeepers are helping Sudanese people in various ways.

He expressed sincere gratitude and thanks to the Bangladesh government for their support to strengthen the military cooperation between the two countries.

The envoy also thanked the people of Bangladesh for providing sincere support and cooperation in discharging his duties.

Secretary of the President's Office Md Sirajul Islam, Military Secretary to the President Major General Mohammad Ruhul Amin and President's Press Secretary Abdul Awal Howlader were present.
