Tendulkar guides India to 6-wkt win

Sachin Tendulkar hit the winning runs and reached his 41st test hundred with a swept boundary Monday, guiding India on a record-setting run chase on home soil to beat England by six wickets in the first cricket test.
Tendulkar shared an unbroken 163-run, fifth-wicket partnership with Yuvraj Singh (85 not out) to guide India to 387 for four with 20 overs to spare on the last day.
Tendulkar's composed innings contained nine boundaries from 196 deliveries. He moved from 99 to 103 with the boundary against off-spinner Graeme Swann, then leaped into the air and celebrated the victory with Yuvraj.
England had a 75-run first innings lead after scoring 316 and then dismissing India for 241, then held a commanding position when skipper Kevin Pietersen declared the second innings at 311 for nine on Sunday

Victory Day exhibition cricket match today

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will be holding a Victory Day exhibition cricket match between Shaheed Jewel XI and Shaheed Mushtaque XI to celebrate the 38th anniversary of the Victory Day.
The match will start at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium here today at 8-30 am.
In this connection, BCB has already announced the names of the players of the two teams.
Mehrab Hossain Opee will lead the Shaheed Jewel XI and Rasedul Haque will lead the Shaheed Mushtaque XI.
BTTF reschedules Table Tennis League programmes

Bangladesh Table Tennis Federation (BTTF) have decided to shift the Metropolis Table Tennis League Championship from December 17 to January 6 due to Victory Day, National Poll and other vacations.
The decision was taken as per the requests of different participating clubs, a BTTF press release said.
According to the new schedule, the First Division League starts on January 6, Senior Division League on January 18 and Women's League on January 20.
Victory Day karate training camp

Bangladesh Karate Federation will organise a daylong karate training camp today at Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in Mirpur to celebrate the Victory Day.
Those karatekas who have send their entry fee are requested to be present at the venue in due time.
10 nominated for National Sports Award-2008

The government has approved the nomination of 10 sports personalities today for National Sports Award-2008 for their outstanding contributions to different
fields of sports, an official handout said.
