Film News: Premier show of Rabeya on 5th day of Eid

The premier show of the government funded full-length feature film 'Rabeya' will be screened on the fifth day of the Eid-ul-Azha on ATN Bangla.

Directed by Tanvir Mokammel, the story and the script have also been written Tanvir. Bonya Mirza, Aly Zaker, Taukir Ahmed, Arman Parvez Murad, Abul Hayat, Masum Aziz, Keramat Mawla, Chitralekha Guha, Abdul Aziz, Vaskor Bondopaddhya, Geetashri Chowdhury, Joyotika Jyoti, Uttam Guha, Rana Masud, among others, performed in the film.

Story of Rabeya:

The incident took place at the fag end of the of the liberation war in 1971 at Ibrahimpur village on the bank of river Rupsa.

A group of the Pakistani occupation forces had set up a camp in the village and they dug a bunker on the bank of the river. Two daughters of late Altaf Kazi- Rabeya and Rokeya -were staying at the house of the Peace Committee chairman Emdad Kazi. Emdad Kazi wanted that his son Tariqul marry Rabeya. Two daughters had lone brother Khaled, who had been studying in a college and later he joined the Liberation War.

At the end of war when the freedom fighters were returning to the village Ibrahimpur, suddenly when a bullet of the Pakistani occupation forces pierced through his chest bring an end to the life of Khaled. Emdad Kazi and a Pakistani captain ordered villagers not to bury the body of Khaled. They also ordered them to throw the body on the dam of the river so that villagers would be frightened seeing the body. Rabeya was asked to look after the body of his brother, but she tried to bury the body of her brother defying the order of Pakistani forces. Then she was also killed by the Pakistani occupation forces. Freedom fighters then announced her martyred.

Ki Jadu Korila to be released in Eid

Film 'Ki Jadu Korila' to be released under the banner of Sadia Sohan Kothachitra in Eid-ul-Azha across the country. Chandan Chowdhury has directed the film, while Anwar Hossain Mintu has produced it.

Mahfuzur Rahman Khan was in camera, while Shahidul Haque was in editing of the film. Alam Khan was in music direction. Riaz, Popy, Ratna, Sagorika, Humayun Faridi, Dolly Zahur, Kabila, Rehana Jolly, Shirin Alam and newcomer Mir Sabbir have performed in the film.

Bengali film songs on black and white format to be aired on ATN Bangla at 12:15pm today. Biplob Rahman has scripted the programme, while Atiar Rahman Atiar has directed the show. Rumana Afroz has moderated the show. The programme is based on the songs of those time periods, which is called the 'golden age' of Bengali movie. Besides songs, history and important information will be presented in the show. Those old songs will be presented as new colourful format to the viewers.

TV Show: Kanak Chapa, Moinul at tonight’s Gaanalap

Popular artiste Kanak Chapa and musician Moinul Islam Khan will be present as tonight's guest at the music related programme 'Gaanalap.' It will be aired at 9:05pm today. Nahid Ahmed Biplob has produced the show, while band artiste Naquib Khan has moderated it.

At tonight's show artiste Kanak Chapa will present a number of songs, which were composed by Moinul Islam Khan. She will also discuss on the background themes of those songs. Besides, both of them will take part in opinion sharing discussion about music in the show.

Event: Shakila performs for underprivileged girls

The Zonta International, a woman empowering organisation, organised a musical soiree at the Emmanuelle's Banquet Hall in the city on November 28 aiming to collect fund to run the 'Nabokoli Girls School' where the underprivileged girls are getting education.

Noted singer Shakila Zafar performed and graced the occasion to express her solidarity with the Zonta Club and its objective.

The musical event was also aimed to raise fund and attention of the well off families in the society to extend their helping hands to support the organisation to operate their numerous socio-economical activities.

President of the Zonta International Sabera Hussain, Lt. Governor Naheed Moyeen formally welcomed all guest and expressed gratitude for their cooperation. Second Vice President of the Zonta International Safina Rahman also attended the ceremony as 'Master of Ceremony' (MC).

The musical event was a fund raising initiative of the Zonta Club to run the 'Nabokoli Girls School,' a project of Zonta Club. The Zonta Club is an association of professional working women and since its inception it has been undertaking various programs focusing on education, health, rehabilitation to abandoned women and children and acid burn victims, awareness on HIV-Aids etc. It also provides financial supports to conduct surgery for destitute children and help them to regain the blessing of sight.

Eid Drama: Kake Chai on Banglavision

Special Eid Drama 'Kake Chai' to be aired on Banglavision at 11:10pm on the fourth day of Eid programmes. Sushmoy Sumon has scripted the drama, while Kaushik Shankar Das has directed it. Tisha, Shahriar Nazim Joy, Ahsanul Haque Minu, among others, performed in the drama.

Story of Kake Chai:

Joy and Tisha is a couple and often they are involved in quarrelling. Joy everyday quarrels with his wife and goes to office and this creates problems in his official activities. One day he returns to his home and rings the doorbell he finds an unidentified person. When Joy wants to enter his house he forces him not to enter. He says that this is his house. In the meantime Tisha comes there and Joy demands Tisha is his wife. But Tisha does not recognise him. The story of the drama continues with various dramatisations.
