Eleven shops and two houses were gutted in a devastating fire at Shibchar Pourasabha Bazar in the district on Monday morning.

Local traders claimed that property worth about Taka 2 crore was burnt to ashes in the blaze that sparked from an electric short-circuit of the grocery shop of Shankar Saha at 6.45 a.m.

Grocery, sweetmeat, hardware, saloon, quilt and fruit shops were gutted in the fire that lasted for more than one hour. Local people brought the blaze under control at 8 AM, the sources said.
