Detained former BNP minister Mirza Abbas was released on parole yesterday for five hours following death of his mother-in-law.

DIG (Prisons) Major Shamsul Haider Siddiqui said detained Mirza Abbas was on parole from 3pm to 8pm to see the body of his mother-in-law who died earlier on the day.

Abbas, a resident of Dhaka's Shahjahanpur area, was arrested on corruption charges on February 25 last year when he went to the Anti-Corruption Commission office in Segun Bagicha to submit his wealth statement.
