Depression over Bay

The depression over south west Bay and adjoining Sri Lanka coast moved northwestwards and intensified into a deep depression over the same area on Wednesday morning.

"It was centered at 6 am yesterday about 1930 kms west-southwest of Chittagong port, 1875 kms west-southwest of Cox's Bazar port and 1780 kms southwest of Mongla Port." said a Met Office special bulletin.

It is likely to intensify further and move in a northwesterly direction.

Maximum sustained wind speed within 48 kms of the depression centre is about 50 kph rising to 60 kph in gusts/squalls. Sea will remain moderate.

Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar and Mongla have been advised to hoist distant cautionary signal number one.
