Interview today: Distribution of BNP tickets begins

NN photo Talha Bin Habib The interview of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) nomination seekers will be held at 10:00am today at the party Chairperson's office at Gulshan in the city. Earlier, the sale of nomination forms ended yesterday at the BNP central office at Naya Paltan in the city. A total of 3,100 nomination forms were sold for six divisions. Party sources said Tk 4 crore and 14 lakh were collected from sales of nomination forms. Candidates intending to contest the forthcoming parliamentary elections have collected nomination papers and most of them have submitted it. Nomination forms on behalf of party Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia were collected for Bogra 6 and 7, Comilla-6 and Dinajpur-3 constituencies. Secretary General Khandker Delwar Hossain has also collected nomination papers for Manikganj-1 and 3 constituencies. Besides, nomination forms were also collected on behalf of Mirza Abbas, former Minister of Housing and Public Works, Amanullah Aman, former State Minister and Nasiruddin Pintu former MP, among others, for contesting the polls from different constituencies in the city. Hundreds of nomination aspirants and their supporters crowded the party central office to get nomination forms. Most of the heavyweights of BNP have collected their nomination forms on the first day Tuesday. "The party would nominate potential and popular candidates for constituencies for the polls," Delwar told journalists. He also said the activities and role of the candidates before and after the changeover of 1/11 would also be taken into consideration. " We call upon the government to fulfil our demands including lifting the state of emergency without any delay to facilitate our electoral activities," he mentioned.
