Two garment factories catch fire in Ctg



CHITTAGONG, Nov 23: Two garment factories caught fire in Asatganj area of the port city on Sunday afternoon. According to a firsthand report, the fire first broke out in Angelic Apparels Ltd at about 1pm and then raged through adjacent Apollo Garments housed in the same building. On information, firefighters rushed in and continued their hectic effort to douse the blaze till 3pm. The outbreak of fire was attributed to electric short circuit. 'Terrorists’ held with arms in Jhenidah



Jhenidah, Nov 23: Police arrested three suspected terrorists along with arms at Shythli village in Harinakundu upazila Saturday midnight. The arrestees are Gias of Shythli village, Reajul Haque of Baribathan village and Rezaul Karim of Korapara village in Sadar upazila. Police said on secret information that the three terrorists entered the village for committing crime they with the help of local people arrested them after a hot chase. Police recovered one revolver and two bullets from their possession. A case was filed, reports UNB.



Youth found dead in Sirajganj



SIRAJGANJ, Nov 23: A rich young man was found dead at Gabargari village in Tarash upazila Sunday morning. The deceased was identified as Alauddin Mia Montu, 35, of Jayantapur village in the upazila. Local people said unidentified miscreants strangulated Montu to death on his way home from a local market Saturday night. The reason behind the murder could not be known immediately. On information, police recovered the body this morning and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy. A case was filed, reports UNB.

Woman strangulated to death in Bagerhat



BAGERHAT, Nov 23: Unidentified assailants strangulated a middle aged woman to death at Masni village in Kachua upazila Saturday night. The victim was identified as Radha Rani Mitra, 55, widow of late Chitta Ranjan Mitra. Police said Radha was owner of huge property and used to live in the village alone as her sons live in India. The assailants entered her house at dead of night and strangled her. On information police recovered the body this (Sunday) morning. Police said the miscreants might have killed the rich lady to grab her land property. A case was filed, reports UNB.



2 held with phensidyl in Munshiganj



MUNSHIGANJ, Nov 23: Police arrested two drug peddlers along with 90 bottles of phensidyl syrup from a covered van at Baluakandia in Gazaria upazila on Dhaka-Chittagong highway Saturday. Police said they halted the covered van and arrested Nizam, 25 and Jony, 24, when they were going to Narayanganj from Comilla along with the Indian contraband drugs. Police said they were involved in drug peddling since long. Police also seized the covered van. A case was filed, reports UNB.
