Premier show of the comedy drama serial 'Ronger Duniya' was held at a function at a city restaurant Sunday night. Hasan Jahangir has scripted and directed the 104-episode drama serial. Shooting of 26 episodes of the serial has already been completed recently. It will be aired on any channel soon.

Lyrics and tune of the introductory song of the drama serial has been composed by Kabir Bakul, while Asif has rendered the song.

ATM Shamsuzzaman, Mamunur Rashid, Dr Enamul Haque, Sohel Khan, Hasan Masud, Faruk Ahmed, Arfan, Shahriar Nazim Joy, Litu Anam, A Kha M Hasan, Pran Roy, Kochi Khondaker, Shirin Bakul, SM Aziz, Sujata, Tazin Ahmed, Homaira Shimu, Rakhi Momtaz, Babul Ahmed, Lux beauty Alvi and Semonti, SM Kamrul Bahar, Kazi Alamgir, Binoy Bhadra, Shah Alam Dulal, Zillur Rahman, Hafizur Rahman Suruj, among others, performed in the serial.

Story of Ronger Duniya:

A musical session was arranged at the house of ATM Shamsuzzaman, a powerful person of a village, on the occasion of his two daughters' birthday. Tazin Ahmed and Himu are two daughters of that person. Like previous years, noted singer Hasan Masud came from city to perform in the programme. Sohel Khan along with his wife Shirin Bakul and nephew Arfan reached there to stop the show. Then Hasan Masud sent Pran Roy and his personal secretary Joy to identify the real thing. They found that Litu Anam was engaged in a relationship with Tazin Ahmed and Hasan was also engaged with Himu. Then the story continues with various interesting incidents.

Bengali film songs on black and white format to be aired on ATN Bangla at 12:15pm today. Biplob Rahman has scripted the programme, while Atiar Rahman Atiar has directed the show. Rumana Afroz has moderated the show. The programme is based on the songs of those time periods, which is called the 'golden age' of Bengali movie. Besides songs, history and important information will be presented in the show. Those old songs will be presented as new colourful format to the viewers.

New acting MD for BTV

Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Information Mamunur Rashid Chowdhury Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Information Mamunur Rashid Chowdhury, a Joint Secretary, has been appointed as the additional charge of the Director General of Bangladesh Television (BTV) recently. Kamal U Ahmed was in the charge of the post earlier. In an abruptive move Kamal U Ahmed was removed from BTV and made OSD of the government. This sudden break has raised questions amongst the concerned circles. Knowledgeable sources said the now removed MD was hugely successful to raise the revenue collections of this state-owned and run media. To many the reasons to change the BTV MD by the feigned of the Caretaker government seem mysterious in the backdrop of fact that an elected government is scheduled to take the charge of the state soon. They suspects that certain interested block has played their hands from behind to safeguard their narrow gains.

Freshers’ day of IUB held

Independent University of Bangladesh (IUB)'s freshers' day was held at the Bashundhara Convention Centre in the city recently. Vice Chancellor of IUB Prof Bazlul Momin Chowdhury was present as chief guest, while Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Omar Rahman was present as special guest at the function.

The event began with a chorus Rabindra Sangeet - "Sonkochero bihobbolota nijere opoman."

Then students of the university performed solo number of songs one after another. They also performed dances. Besides, there was also a fashion show of different genres. There was also a drama with several comical acts.

Two anchors - Salma and Pranti, conducted the whole programme.

The Senior Manager, students' activities of IUB and the student council conducted the event.

He also introduced the new student councillor committee for the year 2008-09. The students, guests and the members of the faculty and management attended the programme.

Story of Eit kather khancha:

The serial began with the family life of three couples. All the couples came from different families. A middle-aged couple started living at an exclusive flat in a posh area. A young couple went to a hotel in a mufassil area. On the other hand, after passing 18 months a person rent a small unit apartment in the city. All these houses were bondages of love and affection. But after a certain time period, these dwelling spaces became cages. A male found a female. Without any relationship the story of the drama serial continued with the lifestyles of the four couples in the society.

Hollywood: Britney makes unexpected appearance in court

Britney Spears made another cameo in the midst of her comeback - this time at a Los Angeles courtroom. Spears appeared unexpectedly Friday for a hearing in her ongoing conservatorship. A court spokesman said after the hearing that Spears appeared to give an update on her upcoming album, 'Circus,' and details of her tour and other promotions.

Her father, Jamie Spears, has had control over his 26-year-old daughter's personal and financial affairs since February. The court made the arrangement permanent last month, but Spears can petition to end the arrangement. The court spokesman says she did not make that request Friday. As part of that deal, her father and attorney gained greater control over her professional career. Jamie Spears appeared in court with his daughter and emerged from a courtroom with her after a two-hour closed session. Spears has not appeared in court during months of conservatorship proceedings, but has been represented by a court-appointed attorney. Spears' new album is scheduled to be released on December 2, which is also the singer's 27th birthday.

Bollywood: It’s tough being a special child: Hrithik

It was a hugely emotional experience for Hrithik Roshan when he inaugurated the Audio and Speech therapy wing at the Nanavati Hospital and donated Rs.2 million for the treatment of special children. The actor met his old doctor, Ramesh Ojha, who treated him for his speech impairment.

"All the memory of my past difficulties came spilling out at Nanavati. When I met my doctor who treated me at age 14 for stammering I could barely control my emotions. It's not easy to be a special child," Hrithik, who inaugurated it Sunday, said.

"You may be called 'special' to make you feel less troubled about your disability. But only a child who goes through the physical or psychological disability knows the trauma," said Bollywood superhero Hrithik. Sharing his own trauma at Nanavati was a cathartic experience. "When I stood there at Nanavati thinking of all those kids who would benefit by the facilities provided by my money, I felt very good about myself. It's all very well to look after your own immediate family and care for friends. But I believe money should also be used for the larger good. That's what I realised Sunday evening. The wing has been named after his grandmother Ira Roshan. "I shared some great times with my daadi (grandmother) during my childhood and growing years. Today, seeing my name and hers being associated with such a project, she must be smiling down," said Hrithik. Right now, Hrithik is busy shooting for his next home production Kites. - Agency
