Film Gossip: Shabnur with Popy

Country's two leading film actresses Shabnur and Popy earlier decided to work together in a film titled 'Valobeshe bau anbo' of promising director Chandan Chowdhury. However, after one day of the shooting Popy left the shooting spot due to unavoidable circumstances. Then director of the film replaced promising actress Sahara instead of Popy. The shooting of film began in Cox's Bazar on November 14.
While asking Popy why left the shooting spot she replied, "There are two heroines in the film. One is Hema and other is Raina. I was casting in the character of 'Hema.' However, after passing one day of the shooting Shabnur wanted to perform in the character of 'Hema.' Then I have decided to quit the movie."
Meanwhile, production house of the film Sadia Sohan's executive producer Mostaque Ahmed said, "When Popy quit to perform in the film we became helpless. Then we were trying to find alternative heroine for that character. At last, we have taken Sahara for the role."
"Popy was our first film's heroine. Nevertheless, we could not understand why she had done this thing. Despite we have to release the movie during Eid-ul-Azha we have agreed the change for the greater interest of the film," said Mostaque.
While replying to a question to Shabnur she said, "I am very sorry for that reason.
I have wished to work together with Popy. Unfortunately, I could not. I cannot understand why heroines do not want to work with me."
Satellite News: BTV brings dimension in programmes

Bangladesh Television (BTV) has brought new dimension in its programmes now. The authority has introduced new programmes for its viewers. At present new set is being using instead of old one along with the digital print. Therefore, latest technologies including lighting, modern set are being using in the programmes. Using of titles has made mandatory through animation and graphics of all programmes of the BTV. Quality has improved from the previous time. For the last one year a Croma studio with high-tech technology has introduced for BTV. A foreign movie is being airing on BTV every Thursday night. Besides, two films are also being airing on Friday and Saturday. Licence and advertisement sections have transferred to Rampura centre from Shahbagh. As a result, activities of BTV have increased.
According to the BTV, for the 2007-08 fiscal year BTV earned more than 13 crore and 30 lakh taka, which means income has increased about 9.5 crore taka. According to the profile of BTV, when BTV was established in 1964, it coved 0.77 per cent of the total population. Now it covers about 98 per cent of the total population by using terrestrial system. Now outdoor shooting for the weekly dramas of BTV is done Gazipur, Mawna, Pubail, Savar and Ashulia. There is a new dimension in BTV World airing programmes. It is trying its level best to improve its programmes, said an official of the BTV.
TV Watch: Sobar Jonno on 100-episode tonight

The 100-episode of entertainment based magazine show 'Sobar Jonno' to be aired on ATN Bangla at 6:20pm today. Aslam Sikdar has directed the fortnightly programme, while Rezauddin Stalin has moderated the show. The programme is divided into different parts like 'Nari Ghore-Bayre,' 'Samprotik Bhabna,' Shuvo Janmadin,' 'Natyangsha' and segment of music and dance.
A special episode will be aired tonight on the occasion of 100-episode. About 80 singers who perform well but not familiar in the society will get opportunity to perform in the show. Besides, reminiscence of the previous 99 episodes will take place on this episode.

Like previous years, Ananya Sahitya Puraskar 2008 (Literature Award) was given at a function at the Poet Sufia Kamal Auditorium of the National Museum in the city on November 16.
This year Litterateur Jharna Das Purakayashta got the award.
National Professor Kabir Chowdhury was present as chief guest at the award giving ceremony. Eminent litterateur Selina Hossain chaired the function. Jharna Das received the award along with a crest and Tk 50,000 cash.
Kabir Chowdhury in his speech urged all to come forward to raise hands for the development of literature practice in the country. He also urged to come forward against militancy.
