DCC opens special offices to improve waste management BSS, Dhaka Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) has opened solid waste management offices in some targeted wards in the city to improve its waste collection system. As solid waste management requires close cooperation of the citizens, they can make recommendations, comments or lodge complaints to the ward waste management offices so that the DCC can respond promptly, DCC sources told BSS on Wednesday. It is expected that with the construction of the waste management offices, waste management problems would be solved more quickly in the city's ward level, the sources said. So far, four new ward offices have been built by the DCC with the assistance of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and in near future two other offices will be opened. The initiative of building special ward offices for waste management was taken under the ongoing project 'Strengthening solid waste management in Dhaka city', which started last year and will end by 2011. As part of the project, a new waste management office was inaugurated today in Ward No 75 beside the Rajdhani Market. The commissioner of the ward, concerned officials of the DCC and the JICA and community representatives attended the inaugural ceremony.
