In Narail-1 Constituency Awami League candidates outvoted their rivals in consequent three terms in 1991, 1996 and in 2001. In 1991 and 1996 Awami League candidate Dhirendranath Saha was elected lawmaker. In 2001 Sheikh Hasina, Awami League president herself was the candidate of Awami League in the never held election of January 22, 2007 and Dhirendranath Saha, having failed to win the ticket of Awami League joined BNP overnight and getting ticket of 4-party alliance competed Sheikh Hasina and was defeated.

In the ensuing 9th national election former MP Dhirendranath Saha, Biswas Jahangir Alam from BNP, Kabirul Haque Mukti, Sheikh Hasina, Azizul Haque from Awami League are aspirant to seek nomination. Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal Jasad central vice president Sharif Nurul Ambia also seeks nomination from AL led Mahajot.

In Narail-2 Constituency, Awami League candidate defeated their rivals in consequent three times in 1991, 1996 and 2001 like Narial-1. In 1991 and 1996 Sharif Khasrujjaman was elected lawmaker. He outvoted BNP candidate Advocate Makbul Hossian and Abdul Kader Sikder in 1991 and 1996 receptively. In 2001 party president Sheikh Hasina defeated much talked Mufti Shahidul Islam, Nayeb-e-Ameer of Islami Oikyajote. In never held election of 22 January 2007, Sheikh Hasina astonishing the countrymen nominated Mufti Shahdul Islam as a candidate of AL led Mahajote. On the other hand, being refused to have ticket from AL Sharif Khasrujjaman joined BNP and won the ticket of 4 party alliance confusing the voters of this constitution.

In the upcoming election, Advocate Subas Bose, Ad. Saif Hafizur Rahman Khokan, Ad Sohrab Hossain Biswas, Mia Mujibar Rahman, Brigadier Baker from Awami League and Sharif Khasrujjaman, Iqbal Hossian Sikder and M. Makbul Hossian from BNP and Maulana Nurunnabi from Jamaat-e-Islami are seeking nomination. Workers' Party General Secretary Comrade Biman Biswas is also a probable candidate of Mahajote in this constituency.
