JS Election-’08: Intra-party feud both in AL-BNP in Narayanganj-1 constituency

Narayanganj-1, Rupganj is one of the most important constituencies of the Districts. Electionearing has been started in the location. Leaders of the political parties who were invisible after 1/11, they are busy now with mass contact. As all kinds of gathering were banned, leaders could not launch any electoral activities.

As soon as the EC declared the deadline of holding election the leaders initiated their campaigning in legal way as publicly meetings and rallies are banned under the emergency period.

All parties are facing with intra party feud. Awami League has been divided into two parts. One part is being led by KM Shafilah, former Army cheif and the member of the central Awami League advisory committee. Another part is being led by Gazi Golam Dastagir Birpratik, industrialist and a well known Awami League leader. Both the two will compete to get nomination and they are launching their campaigning separately.

On the other hand, BNP has been divided into six part as the leadership crisis is prevailing in absence of Abdul Matin Chowdhury central BNP leader and former minister as he has been suffering from old age complications for long.

Kazi Moniruzzaman Monir, former chairman of BGMEA, Advocate Taimur Alam Khandker former BRTC chairman now in imprisonment, Mustafizur Rahman Bhuiyan Dipu owner of the Gaosia group of industries, Nuruzzaman Khan, chairman of Kaitpara Union and industrialist, Muniruzzaman Chowdhury, nephew of Abdul Matin Chowdhury, Advocate Mahfuzur Rahman are aspirations of getting Nomination and they are running their political activities separately. All they are now busy with mud slinging with one another.

Apart from it Sultan Uddin Bhuiyan former MP of JP (Ershad) and Mahmud Hassan controversial Upazila JP chairman are running party activities and mass contact. Nomination aspirants of all parties told the Correspondents that they will be united and will work together after getting nominations. It may be predicted that two major parties will contest in the upcoming JS election
