2 killed in Bagerhat road mishap

BAGERHAT, Nov 2: Two people were killed and 25 others injured when a bus plunged into a roadside ditch at Ghatbila in Mollahat upazila Sunday afternoon. Police said the Khulna-bound bus from Barisal fell into the ditch at about 3:45pm as its driver lost his control over steering, killing two on the spot. One of the deceased was identified as Lal Mia, 50, of Bhanga uoazila in Faridpur district. Identity of another, aged around 27, could not be known immediately. Of the injured, 15 were admitted to Mollahat Upazila Health Complex and Khulna Medical College Hospital. Condition of three was stated to be critical, hospital sources said, reports UNB.

2 die after taking liquor in Pirojpur

Pirojpur, Nov 2: Two people, including a school teacher, died and another fell sick after taking toxic liquor in Nazirpur upazila on Saturday and Sunday. The deceased were identified as Arun Kumar Halder, 45, a teacher of Chithalia Govt. Primary School, of Digha village, and his friend Imdad, 50, of Gabtali village. Sick Debashil, 45, has been admitted to a hospital in Khulna. Police said the three took liquor at Digha Bazar on Friday afternoon, reports UNB.

COMILLA, Nov 2: The distribution of admission forms for the 1st year honours courses in Comilla University for the academic session 2008-09 will begin on November 16. The decision was taken at a meeting of academic council of the university on Saturday with its Vice Chancellor Dr Zehadul Karim in the chair. The admission forms will be available in the university from November 16 to 21 while the last date of submission is November 23. The admission test will be held on January 23 and classes will begin on February 28, reports UNB.
