The Election Commission in Barisal failed to find out any activities of six parties - Biplobi Workers Party, Bangladesh Liberal Democratic Party, Forward Party, National Peoples Party, Bangladesh Peoples Party and Samajik Rajnoitik Andolan - in the city.

Polls officials failed to find out any office of these six parties in the divisional headquarters, district election officer Manirul Islam said.

The commission also failed to get any office of the rest 8 parties in most of the 10 upazilas of the district, commission sources said. The Barisal office of the commission on October 27 started verifying the information, sent from the EC headquarters and provided by the 14 parties with the EC for their registration.

The parties are Biplobi Workers Party, Bangladesh Liberal Democratic Party, Forward Party, Samajik Rajnoitik Andolan, National Peoples Party, Ganoforum, Bangladesh Tarikat Federation, Islami Front Bangladesh, Kalyan Party, Islami Shasantantrik Andolan, Zaker Party, Bangladesh Peoples Party, Jatiya Ganatantrik Party and Oikyabaddha Nagarik Andolan. The commission sources said some parties had hurriedly opened their offices and formed committees in the city before the investigation started. Investigation into the information, provided by the 14 parties with the EC for their registration, completed by Sunday and sent report to Dhaka on Monday, EC officials said.

Office of Jatiya Ganotantrik Party found at the residence of Md. Rahim Holadar, vice president of the party at Shahparan Road of Kashipur in outskirt of the city.
