ECS City IT Fair gets momentum

ECS City IT Fair-08 gets momentum. The 9 day long fair that began on last Thursday with a view to spreading the motto 'Computer would be instrument of development of merit' will be ended on this Friday. Multiplan Centre Shop Owners organized the fair where 276 organisations are participated with advanced technology ranging from desktop computer to advanced gadgets.

Special discount, quiz, gift, drawing and debate competition for school going students, gaming zone for the game-bugs and above all free internet access facilities are provided to the customers and visitors. New technologies are exhibited in two separate computer zones.

Computer source brings two printers- Lexmark Z1320 and X2650. Photo can be printed out from the first one.

Global Brand Pvt Ltd brings some laptops, e-PC, e-Box, Mini desktop computers, PDA phones and LCD monitors of ASUS. These products are sold in discount. Great Wall A-81 laptop is found at Tk. 29,900 where Celeron-D desktop computer is found at Tk 13,999. There are facilities of voting for Cox's Bazar and Sundarban. The entry fee is fixed at tk 10 though school going students can access to the fair free.Prof Jamilur Reza Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor of Brac University inaugurated the fair on Thursday. He said the world turned has turned into a global village due to the advancement of technology.

We have to move forward by reducing imbalance in this sector compared to other countries. He called upon to hold more such computer fairs in the country and reach computer to common people.

Bangladesh Computer association will organise BCS ICT World 2008 on Nov 17 to 21 at Bangladesh China Friendship Centre where BASIS SoftExpo 09 will be held on January 27 to 31 in the same venue in next year.

'There is no good way to develop professional skills other than involvement with the technology'-said by the speakers at the special computer training program for Dhaka Sub Editors Council by Daffodil Institute of IT.

They added, "The definition of rich man has changed in these days. The peoples who are rich in information are rich in all way."

The Inauguration ceremony (03 November'08) of the training program was chaired by Mr. Shah Muhammad Muhtasim Billah, President of DSEC and Md. Sabur Khan, the Chairman of Daffodil Group was present at the occasion as Chief Guest.

Mohammad Nuruzzaman, the Executive Director of DIIT, Tanvir Ahmed, Participant of the training program and Rathindra Nath Das, Assistant Director of DIIT also gave speech on the occasion. More than 20 journalists from different dailies, news agencies and electronic media are participating in the two months long training session. Khan in his speech said that, "The journalists work with the information. So it's very important for the journalists to introduce with the information technology". He also gave importance on information collection and accumulation, which can be effective at any step of life and can open up a door of new opportunity.

Bangla should get priority in govt. sites

The main way of communication of common people with government is Bangla. Therefore government websites should use Bangla language. To reach information to the common people quickly, these website should be produced according to them.

Rasheda K Chowdhury, adviser, Primary and Mass Education Ministry, said this at a national seminar styled "E-government Development Strategy".

Among others, Manik Lal Samaddar, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser on Science and Information Technology, Prof AM Shafiullah, Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Sheikh Md Wahiduzzaman, Secretary of Science and Information Minstry, Dr Atiur Rahman, Professor of Development studies of Dhaka University, Md Jobed Ali Sarkar, Executive Director of Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC), Dr Shamser Ali, Vice Chancellor of South East University, Habibullah N Karim, Bangladesh Association of Software, Information and Service were present in the seminar. Nil Ratan, leader of councilor organization, Price WaterHouse Coopers, to implement the project, presented draft strategy of the seminar.

Rasheda Ka chowdhury said, government has already got benefit using information technology. The existing government used SMS tactic to raise awareness among common people about bird flu.

Apple puts further 2008 Mac updates on ice

An Apple spokesperson has cooled down expectations of a last-minute refresh to the Mac line, or any other products, before the start of the new year.The news dampens expectations for late 2008, which according to roadmaps would have Apple launch minor iMac updates before the year closed out.
