RU BCL condemns Shibir’s portrayal of AL, BCL as terrorists RU Correspondent The leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) of Rajshahi University (RU) unit on Saturday met university Proctor Enamul Haque at his office and demanded exemplary punishment to Shibir cadres for sticking posters on walls of different halls on the campus portraying Awami League (AL) and Chhatra League as a terrorist party. Earlier, on Friday, Shibir activists stuck under the banner of 'Flash Back October 28, 2006 and AL armed cadres' massacre' by violating Emergency Power Rules and university restrictions on the campus. They displayed photos of AL-Shibir violence in Dhaka as well as those of injured Shibir activists. RU BCL leaders led by Diyapan Sarker Dip and Mizanur Rahman Mithu also informed the proctor that Shibir activists went to general students' rooms and distributed Jamaat's weekly paper 'Sonar Bangla' displaying photos of Shibir activists who sustained injuries during October 28 violence. BCL men alleged that Shibir tried to destroy congenial academic atmosphere on the campus by their untoward action and showdown on the campus accompanying huge number of outsiders. BCL leader alleged that Shibir told general students that AL and Chhatra League are terrorist parties because they killed general people in Dhaka on October 28, 2006. BCL leaders called on university authorities and demanded immediate ban on such kind of documentary film show on the campus. They also demanded immediate ban on Jamaat-Shibir politics on RU campus and demanded immediate assurance of security of their leaders and activists on the campus. They demanded exemplary punishment of the responsible Shibir cadres who stuck posters on the campus and arranged documentary film show violating Emergency Power Rules and university restriction. BCL leaders threatened to launch a tougher movement against the university authorities if the responsible Shibir cadres are not punished. Later, they held a protest rally in front of the central library premises and called upon the government to punish the war criminals. When contacted, Proctor Dr. Enamul Haque said that after investigation of the incident 'I will take necessary steps.'
