Time-befitting education for youth stressed

BSS, Rajshahi

Speakers at a discussion here on Saturday underscored the need for time-befitting education for the youth community in the greater interest of making the nation free from the curse of unemployment.

They said the youth force constitutes one-fourth of the total population and they must be given up-to-date education to carry forward the nation's hopes and aspirations to further progress and prosperity.

Department of Youth Development (DYD) organised the discussion at the Bangladesh Shishu Academy auditorium here in observance of the National Youth Day. Additional Divisional Commissioner Syed Ali Nasim Khaliluzzaman and Professor ANM Saleh of Psychology Department of Rajshahi University addressed the function as the chief and the special guest respectively with Additional Deputy Magistrate AKM Mijanur Rahman in the chair.

They called for transforming the youth community into a competent workforce through providing them with need-based knowledge so that they could take part in the nation-building process. This will help them attain self-sufficiency, they added.

Deputy Director of DYD Motiur Rahman in his address of welcome elaborated the activities and performance of the department relating to training on various trades. Earlier, the DYD trainees brought out a rally parading the city streets.
