Shamsur Rahman, former senior Nayebe Ameer of Bangladesh Jammat-e-Islami died yesterday morning at a clinic in Khulna city.

He was 93. He had been suffering from diabetics and heart diseases for long time.

He left behind his wife, four sons and three daughters and host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.

His Namaj-e-Janaja was held at the play ground of Khulna Circuit House after Asr prayers. Maulana Delwar Hossain Saidee officiated the final rituals.

He will be buried today at his ancestral home at Mothbari village under Paikhghacha upazila in Khulna after second Namaj-e-Janaja.

Moulana Abu Taher, assistant secretary general, Prof Shah Mohammad Ruhul Quddus, member of central executive council, Prof Mia Golam Poroar, city Jammat Ameer and leaders of the pary and musullis among others, attended his Namaj-e-Janaja.
