FM News: New Bengali radio goes on air today

A new Bengali radio named 'Do Bangla Radio' will start its journey in London from November 2. It will air Bengali programmes on FM 101.4 megahertz every Sunday from 3:00pm to 4:00pm (GMT). Anybody can log on www.dobangla.co.uk or www.paltalk.com of dobangla radio to listen live programme.
The opening programme of the radio channel to be aired at 3:00pm from dobangla On FM Studio Hammersmith in London today. Alama Siddiqui, Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh in UK will be present as chief guest at the inauguration of radio. Nicola McHugh, Station Director of On FM, Muhammad Abdus Salik, Mayor of Tower Hamlet, Reza Ahmed Faisal Chowdhury Shoeb, Chief Executive Director of Channel i UK, among others, will be present as guests on the occasion.
From Do Bangla Radio, various Bengali songs, community news and other news will be aired. Line-up of the radio team - Ahsanul Haque Bulu, Chairman, Shahidur Rahman Tareque, Director, Munzur Rahman, Sound Engineer, Kazi Kaisar Mahmud (Mishu), Producer and Shafiqul Haque Matin, Programme Coordinator.
Phulkuri Asar staged drama

Dhaka Dishari branch of the national children organisation Phulkuri Asar organised a discussion meeting at Mahanagar Natyashala at Gulistan in the city recently.
After the discussion, members of the organisation staged drama 'The Secret Seven' at the theatre hall. A huge number of audience gathered in the function.
Event: Seminar on drama held

Centre for National Culture (CNC) organised a subject based seminar recently. Topic of the subject was 'We and Our Drama.'
Renowned dramatist and popular film artiste Ariful Haq was present as the keynote speaker in the seminar.
Noted playwright and educationist Prof Dr Askar Ibne Saikh chaired the session. In the seminar, Ariful Haq stated a substantial brief on the history of theatre and activities of the theatre groups.
He said, "Theatre from very beginning was yet a source of the recreation of riches and bourgeons.
But it should represent and reflect common sorrows and happiness to its wider range."
He added that one of the world famous theatre researcher opined, " A nation is known by its theatre." So we should remembered and realise the actual effort of theatre, he mentioned.
Prof Askar Ibne Saikh also spoke at the seminar. The seminar was organised by Prof Nurul Amin Chowdhury, Executive Director of CNC and modertaed by poet Kamruzzaman.

Khairul Alam Sabuj, Afroza Banu, Lutfar Rahman George, Litu Anam, Sumaiya Shimu, Apurbo, Sharmin Shila, Probal, Mahmud Sajjad, Rafiqullah Selim, among others, performed in the serial.
Story of Mohanagar:
An aristocratic family of old Dhaka - family of Anfar Mia. Raj is a young man of this family. He is jobless but independent and rebellion in mentality. Once his grandfather Anfar Mia was a popular politician and businessman. His Anfar Manjil is now in dilapidated state.
His jointly family is now under threatened condition. His elder son Dalim Mia is a school teacher, middle son Angur Mia is a high government official and younger son Akhrote Mia is a workless. Basically the drama serial represents ups and down of a family, its renaissance and a true reflection of the human realities at a time.
Theatre: Padatic Nattya Sangsad staged Beder Meye

Theatre troupe Padatic Nattya Sangsad staged its 28th presentation 'Beder Meye' written by Palli Kabi Jasim Uddin at the Experimental Theatre Hall of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on October 29. It was 27th performance of the play by this theatre group. Irin Parvin Lopa gave direction of the play and Syed Tasnin Hossain has produced it.
Mominul Haque, Sayeka, Kaniz, Safiqur Rahman, Lipi, Jabed, Arif, Babu, Jewel, Papia, Hasan, Shimul, Manik, Delwar, Swarna, Shammi, Dolon, Monika and Munni performed in the play.
Story of Beder Meye:
Champa is an idol of gypsy woman. Landlord forcibly married her. But she left his house and left her profession to get relief from the repression and tortures of the landlord. At the end of the play, she had to return her house when she found her husband was in critical condition due to biting of snake. As a result, she returned to her old profession to survive the gypsies' profession.
TV Serial: Rtv airs Priyodarshini

The 18th episode of drama serial 'Priyodarshini' to be aired on Rtv at 9:40pm today. Pranab Bhatta has written the story of the drama, while Nazrul Islam and Arun Chowdhury have jointly scripted and directed the drama serial.
Dilara Zaman, Suborna Mustafa, Tazin Ahmed, Amirul Islam, Sharmily Ahmed, Apurbo, Azizul Hakim, Golam Farida Chhanda, Chumky, among others, performed in the serial.
Story of Priyodarshini:
Story of the drama serial is based on the lifestyle, activities of women. Women's feelings, emotional values, needs, joys, pains and other matters were reflected in the drama serials. Of these women, someone is mother, someone is sister, someone is bride or some other is girlfriend. In one hand, mother is searching her daughter, on the other hand daughter found her lover and established a new life. Besides, conflicts between husband and wife are found in the drama serial.
ETV Chairman receives Sher-e-Bangla Padak

Chairman of the private television channel Ekushey Television (ETV) Abdus Salam received Sher-e-Bangla Padak 2008 at a function at the National Press Club on October 29, says a press release.
Former adviser of the Caretaker Government CS Shafi Sami was present as chief guest, while former Information secretary and former chairman of BTRC Marghub Morshed chaired the programme.
Abdus Salam got the award for his contribution to make the television channel as successful media.
TV Watch: Somparko on Ntv tonight

A different type of entertainment related talk show 'Somparko' to be aired on Ntv at 6:50pm on Sunday. Jahangir Chowdhury has produced the show, while Tina Salem Manjur has moderated it. The programme is based on interview of cultural personalities who are performing in the entertainment world and have blood relations like brother-sister, sister-sister or brother-brother. In each episode, two personalities are invited in the show. Artistes Tagore artistes Afsana Rahman and Asma Zaman Rita will be present as today's episode guests at the programme.
Bollywood: Kareena Kapoor Pepsi Co’s new brand ambassador

Actress Kareena Kapoor has been appointed the new brand ambassador of soft drinks giant PepsiCo's snacks. She will be seen with boyfriend Saif Ali Khan, actress Juhi Chawla and cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni in a new ad campaign for the product.
"It is a privilege to be associated with the brand as it is a big hit among youngsters. I'm excited and looking forward to a long and fulfilling association with the brand," said Kareena in a press statement. The new TV commercial will go on air in mid-November. "Kareena's vibrant persona, pan-India appeal and her confident attitude makes her a great fit for our brands," said Deepika Warrier, PepsiCo's marketing director. Apart from its carbonated and non-carbonated drinks, Pepsico is known for snacks range that includes Cheetos, Munchies and many more.
