Promoting horticulture



It was earlier believed that staples like rice, wheat, barley, and legumes were first domesticated crops. But Archaeobotanists at Harvard University and Bar-Ilan University has recently revealed a startling fact published in the Science Journal that fruit trees are the oldest known domesticated crop. According to their finding, the dawn of agriculture may have come with the domestication of fig trees in the Near East some 11,400 years ago!

Congratulations to Bangladesh Army Chief General Moeen U Ahmed on his receiving the 'Order of National Security Merit' from Korea in recognition of his outstanding contributions to promoting defense cooperation and trust between the armed forces of the two friendly countries. General Kim Tae-young, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of Korean Armed Forces appreciated the role of Bangladesh Army in UN peace keeping Operations. He assured Gen. Moeen of best possible cooperation from his side in developing Bangladesh's defense capability.

It is sincerely hoped that the Bangladesh Armed Forces would witness further internationalization under the dynamic leadership of Gen. Moeen.
