Bangladesh Cricket team off to SA

Bangladesh National Cricket team left the city yesterday night for South Africa to play three One Day International (ODI ) matches, two Test matches and a Twenty20 match against South Africa National Cricket team in South Africa.

Besides, Bangladesh National Cricket team will face South Africa A team in a two-dayer match.

Bangladesh team will meet South Africa team in a Twenty20 match at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on November 5.

The Tigers will face the Proteaous in the first ODI,which will be a day-night affair at the Senwas Park in Potchefstroom on November 7.

Bangladesh team will play against South Africa team in the second ODI at the Willowmoore Park in Benoni on November 9.

The Tigers wiil meet the Proteaous in the third ODI, which will be also a day-night affair at the Buffalo Park in East London on November 12.

Bangladesh team will take on South Africa A team in a two-dayer match, which is scheduled to be held in Kimberly on November 15-16.

The Tigers will face the Proteaous in the first Test match, which begins on November 19 at the Outsurance Oval in Bloemfontein.

Bangladesh team will meet South Africa in the second Test match scheduled to be held at the SuperSport Park in Centurion from November 26 to November 30.

It may be mentioned that Bangladesh Cricket Board announced on last Tuesday the 15-member ODI and Twenty20 squad which will play against South Africa in ODIs and Twenty20 match.

Bangladesh Squad : Mohammad Ashraful (captain ), Mashrafe Bin Mortaza (vice-captain ), Tamim Iqbal, Zunaed Siddique, Shakib Al Hasan, Mehrab Hossain (Junior ), Mushfiqur Rahim, Naeem Islam, Abdur Razzak, Shahadat Hossain, Syed Rasel, Nazmul Hossain, Mahbubul Alam, Roqibul Hassan and Imrul Kayes.

Aga Khan School emerge champions beating Scholastica 3-2 in final

Aga Khan International School emerged champions in the Dhaka Metropolitan Women's School Football Tournament as they came from behind to beat Scholastica School by 3-2 goals in a keenly contested final at the Dhanmondi Women Sports Complex on Saturday.

BFF president and legendary footballer Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin witnessed the day's final as chief guest while General Manager of Pacific Telecom Ltd Sania Mahmud was present as special guest.

Karishma drew the first blood scoring the first goal for Scholastica in the 11th minute (1-0) while Adiba of Aga Khan School restored the parity in the 21st minute (1-1).

Mosaba put Aga Khan ahead in the 23rd minute (2-1), but Zara leveled the margin for Scholastica (2-2) in the following minute (24th).

Eventually, Adiba netted the match-winner with her second goal in the 32nd minute amid huge cheers from her schoolmates (3-2).

Earlier, in the semifinals on Friday, Aga Khan International School eliminated Viqarunnissa Noon School by 2-1 goals, while Scholastica School beat BIT, also 2-1.

BCB names 20 cricketers to form a Bangladesh U-17 team to tour Nepal

Bangladesh Cricket Board on Saturday initially selected 20 cricketers to form a Bangladesh Under-17 team to tour Nepal this month.

The selected cricketers have been asked to report to Shahidul Islam, BCB's HP Program Logistics Officer, at the BKSP in Savar on Monday (Nov 3) at 05:00 pm to take intensive training there till Nov 10.

Finally, a 14-member team will tour the Himalayan Kingdom on completion of the weeklong training camp at BKSP.

BDR inter-sector volleyball begins today

BSS, Dhaka

The Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) Inter- Sector Volleyball Championship, organized by Dhaka Sector, begins today (Sunday) at Rifles Sports Board Training ground at the BDR headquarters at Peelkhana.

Twelve sector teams are taking part. The teams are: Sylhet, Khulna, Rajshahi, Dinajpur, Dhaka, Comilla, Mymensingh, Rangpur, Kushtia, Chittagong, Rangamati and Khagrachhari.

Sector Commander of Dhaka Colonel Mujibul Haque will be the chief guest at the inaugural function.

India 43-2 at close in third Australia Test

India were 43-2 in their second innings at close on the fourth day of the third Test against Australia at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium here on Saturday.

Australia were bowled out for 577 in their first innings in reply to India's 613-7 declared.

Div I Hockey: Barnak Samaj, Police registers win

Barnak Samaj and Bangladesh Police AC registered win in the Green Delta Insurance First Division Hockey League on Saturday.

In the day's first match, Barnak Samaj beat Victoria SC by asolitary goal at the Moulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium.

Mithun of Barnak Samaj scored the match-winning goal in the 40th minute of the play.

In the day's second match, Bangladesh Police AC blanked Uttara Hockey Club 6-0 at the same venue.

Rana of Police AC scored three goals and his teammates Shahensha, Babu, Khairul struck one time each on the board.

Matuail draw with Kadamtala

Matuail Udayan Sangsad made a 1-1 draw with Kadamtala Sangsad in the day's lone match of the Second Division Football League at the Kamalapur Bir Sreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Stadium on Saturday.

Pradeep of Matuail put his team ahead in the 12th minute of the game while Rony of Kadamtala equalised the margin in the 31st minute of the clash.

Today's matches : BG Press S&RC vs Friends Social Welfare Organisation, Dhanmondi Club vs Sadharan Bima KS.

4th round of national cricket league begins today

UNB, Dhaka

The 4th round matches of the four-day Ispahani Mirzapore Tea 10th National Cricket League begins today (Sunday) at three zonal venues across the country.

League leaders Barisal Division will play their home match against Chittagong Division at Narayanganj Osmani Stadium in Fatullah, Dhaka Division play the home match against Khulna Division at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, while Rajshahi Division play their away match against Sylhet Division at Sylhet Stadium.

After the first three rounds, Barisal Division tops the list securing 32 points, closely followed by Rahshahi Division with 32 points.
