Health Adviser Dr AMM Shawkat Ali yesterday urged all officials concerned to achieve the target of the population programmes making the best use of every moment.

He also suggested them for integrating public-private partnership to increase achievement rate.

The adviser was presiding over the first meeting of the newly formed executive committee of the National Population Council(NPC) at the conference room of the health ministry here, an official handout said.

Cabinet Secretary Ali Imam Majumder, Health and Family Welfare Secretary AMM Nasir Uddin, Education Secretary Momtajul Islam, Women and Children Affairs Secretary Rokeya Sultana, Director General (DG) of Family Welfare Department Qamrun Nesa Khanam, DG of Health Department Professor Dr Md Abul Fayez, among others, attended the meeting.

A 25-member NPC executive committee was formed on June 30, 2008 with the Chief Adviser Dr Fakhruddin Ahmed in the chair.

After reviewing the work plan on population and monitor the work progress the committee will present a report to the council. If necessary, the committee would seek cooperation from experts in formulating policies and would organize meeting four times a year.
