Foundation training course for agri scientists at BARD begins

A four-month foundation- training course for the scientists of Agriculture Research System (NARS) kicked off at the Bangladesh Academy for rural Development (BARD) Comilla yesterday.

Sponsored by the Bangladesh Agriculture Research council (BARC), BARD has been imparting this training course for 40 scientists of different research institutes under NARS like Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institute (BARI), and Bangladesh Sugarcane Research Institute (BSRI).

The main thrust of the course would be to inculcate a uniform perception in all officers by imparting theoretical and practical knowledge on administration and development of Bangladesh as a whole, said a release of BARD received here.

Building positive attitude among the officers so that they could create a congenial environment for people's participation in all development activities would also be emphasized.

Director General of BARD M Khairul Kabir formally inaugurated the course as chairperson while Director (Training and Manpower) of Bangladesh Agriculture Research Council (BARC) Dr SM Khalilur Rahman spoke on the occasion as Guest of Honor. Director (Training), BARD, Md Mir Kashem and Director (Training and Communication), BARI and Course Director and Join Director, BARD Md Shafiqul Islam also spoke in the inaugural session.

Kabir hoped that participants as a group of very promising agriculture scientists could make their contribution by raising crop production in the country.

He said, the training would further develop decision - making ability and sharpen analytical skills of the participants.
