New drama serial 'Tuntuni Villa' to be aired on ETV at 8:20pm. It will be first episode of the drama serial. Anwar Hossain Anu has scripted the drama, while Kaisar Ahmed has directed the serial.

Fakhrul Hasan Boiragi, Dolly Zahur, Litu Anam, Chanchal Chowdhury, Tomalika Karmaker, Rumana, Mita Nur, Elora Gawhar, Tania, among others, performed in the serial.

Story of Tuntuni Villa:

Bashir Uddin Byapari is an old resident of Dhaka city. He has two daughters - Tuntuni and Jhunjhuni. His wife Bulbuli Begum is less educated woman. But her heart is so soft. He named his residence 'Tuntuni Villa.' Two friends Pear and Mohabbat took rent a flat as a tenant in the house. They gave money to a manpower business to go abroad. But the businessman cheated with them. Then Mohabbat and Pear decided to stay in Dhaka and will run a business. But Bashiruddin and his wife often quarrelled with these two tenants.

In the meantime, brother-in-law of Bashiruddin Kislu came from abroad. He made a good relationship with Mohabbat and Pear. The story continues with various incidents.

Ittefaq Group, ATN Records Ltd, a concern group of ATN Bangla and Concord Group are jointly organising a beauty contest titled 'Style Icon.'

The agreement signing ceremony was held at the Steak House in Gulshan in the city on Thursday.

Arshad Hosein, Managing Editor of daily Ittefaq, Dr Mahfuzur Rahman, Chairman of ATN Bangla and SK Lala, Managing Director of Concord Group signed on the agreement papers on behalf of their respective organisations.

The beauty contest will feature individuals between 18 and 25. Registration will begin soon.

The finale will be held on January 2 next year. ATN Bangla will telecast twelve episodes of the contest.

The programme would be held annually, said the organisers.

The SSL is the web partner, Radio Today is the radio partner, Women's World is the beauty partner and Mantra is the fashion partner of the event, they said.

His elder son Dalim Mia is a school teacher, middle son Angur Mia is a high government official and younger son Akhrote Mia is a workless. Basically the drama serial represents ups and down of a family, its renaissance and a true reflection of the human realities at a time.

Country music star Carrie Underwood now has a double. Underwood visited Madame Tussauds in New York on Thursday to help unveil a wax figure of herself. The 25-year-old Checotah, Okla., native posed for pictures beside the likeness, which will be added to the museum's 'VIP Room.'

The wax figure depicts Underwood standing with her hands on her hips and wearing a short, sparkly pink dress, which she wore to the 2006 Country Music Association Awards show. Underwood received her first CMA female vocalist of the year award that year, and picked it up again in 2007. Underwood donated a replica of the dress to Madame Tussauds. A team of wax artists worked on the Underwood likeness earlier this year after she modeled for it.

"It was mainly just a couple of people met us out on the road and like did a lot of measurements, a lot of picture taking," she told The Oklahoman. "I had to stand still for a long time while they did their thing."

In the world of the Kanganas and the Katrinas, it's difficult for a girl with a simple and sweet image like Amrita Rao to hold her own. Even actresses who started off as girls next door like Minissha Lamba are trying hard for a super sexy makeover.

But Amrita Rao is doing well, her own way. This, inspite of being criticized time and again for being a behenji. After playing a convincing teen in 'Main Hoon Na' and a few flops later, she went ahead and turned simple and sweet for 'Vivaah' and the well made 'Welcome to Sajjanpur'. In between there was a slightly sexy makeover for 'My name is Anthony Gonsalves' which didn't do her a world of good since the movie tanked. People seem to like Amrita only sweet and simple. Now the lass is getting a chance to star with Amitabh Bachchan in Chandraprakash Dwivedi's next flick.

She'll be playing Arjun Rampal's wife and Tabu and Amitabh Bachchan's daughter-in-law in his upcoming film, 'The Legend of Kunal'.

According to the director, it is a very difficult role for Amrita. Though Tabu plays the central character, Amrita is very important to the central drama. Tabu portrays trishna (thirst), whereas Amrita shows purity and honesty.

It was Mrs Jaya Bachchan who suggested Amrita's name for the role of Kanchanmala. And since she's both delicate and strong and can stand up against a powerful Tabu, she's being rightly cast.

Now that's lots of praise for the young actress. Should we say inspiration for the few simple girls of B-Town?
