Metro rail for Dhaka
It is learnt that our Caretaker government is soon going to spend a sum of Taka ten crore on preparation of a feasibility study report on metro-rail system for our capital city Dhaka.
Would the authority concerned provide us the following information?
1) What would be the total cost of the metro-rail project and in which year it would be completed?
2) How would the project be financed? If from foreign loan, what are the terms and conditions of the interest and duration?
3) Would our government give us the guarantee that the operation of 60-kilometres of metro-rail system would not suffer due to regular electricity failure and frequent load sheddings.
AL & BNP
The top most priority, duty and responsibility of our Caretaker govt., Election Commission and all political parties especially the two major political parties the Awami League and the BNP are to make our schedule general election December 18, 2008 a success, elect a people's Parliament, Jatiya Sangsad and form a democratic, accountable and transparent govt in our country without further loss of time.
We are in the midst of a very delicate and critical situation. If there is no election or the consequence of the December 2000 election turns into chaos and confusion and creates law and order situation who would be responsible? It would be a great catastrophe for the country and the sufferings of the people would know no bounds.
We suggest that the Awami League leader Sheikh Hasina and the BNP leader Begum Khaleda Zia may kindly sit to-gether and make the following joint declaration in the interest of public service:-
They would accept the results of the general election peacefully.
They would not boycott the Parliament, Jatiya Sangsad.
They would not call for hartal, strike more than two days in a year but ensure maintenance of law and order.
If Begum Khaleda Zia and Sheikh Hasina do not accept the above demands of millions and millions of people of our country they may kindly take rest and keep themselves aloof from politics for next five years.
