Event: Road show with musical rally, signature campaign in city
Pop singer Azam Khan, artiste Shahed and others at the signature campaign programme in the city street Staff Reporter Besides 126 countries of the world, on the occasion of International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, CAMPE (Campaign for Popular Education) organised a road Show with musical rally and signature campaign on Sunday in the city. The campaign was started from in front of the TSC of Dhaka University at 10:30am. As a part of three-day long programs planned by the GCAP (Global Call to Action against Poverty), the road show featured four of the country's eminent artists - Azam Khan, Shahed, Fahmida Nabi and Sumon (Aurthohin band) rendered songs at four different spots in the city - Dhaka University, Gulshan 1, in front of the National Parliament and Dhanmondi Rabindra Sarobar in Dhanmondi. A group of musician had leaded the show, calling up people to take part in the signature campaign against poverty and inequality. In the beginning of program, Azam Khan and Shahed expressed their stand against poverty. Then pop singer Azam Khan presented his famous song 'Rail liner oi bastite.' After that Azam Khan and Shahed performed songs of common people, songs of life. Hundreds of general people including rickshaw pullers, 'tokai' students and different profession joined with their voice and participated in the signature campaign.
