Event: Road show with musical rally, signature campaign in city

Besides 126 countries of the world, on the occasion of International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, CAMPE (Campaign for Popular Education) organised a road Show with musical rally and signature campaign on Sunday in the city.
The campaign was started from in front of the TSC of Dhaka University at 10:30am. As a part of three-day long programs planned by the GCAP (Global Call to Action against Poverty), the road show featured four of the country's eminent artists - Azam Khan, Shahed, Fahmida Nabi and Sumon (Aurthohin band) rendered songs at four different spots in the city - Dhaka University, Gulshan 1, in front of the National Parliament and Dhanmondi Rabindra Sarobar in Dhanmondi. A group of musician had leaded the show, calling up people to take part in the signature campaign against poverty and inequality.
In the beginning of program, Azam Khan and Shahed expressed their stand against poverty. Then pop singer Azam Khan presented his famous song 'Rail liner oi bastite.' After that Azam Khan and Shahed performed songs of common people, songs of life. Hundreds of general people including rickshaw pullers, 'tokai' students and different profession joined with their voice and participated in the signature campaign.

Training on vocal science, Tagore songs on Oct 26

A 15-day workshop on 'Modern vocal science and Practicing of Tagore songs' will be started at the Rehearsal Room of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on October 26. The training will be held from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.
Noted Tagore artiste and researcher, former teacher of Chhayanaut and guest faculty of Biswabharati, Santiniketan Prof Dr Anisur Rahman will conduct the workshop.
Each trainer of different music of the metropolitan area and working trainer of the district Shilpakala Academy will get opportunity to attend the workshop. Interested participants are requested to register their names at the training room of the Academy at 9:00am on October 26. It is mentioned that participant trainer of the district Shilpakala Academy will get TA/DA. It will not be applicable for the participants of the Dhaka Metropolitan Area, says a press release.

Noted cine-journalist and Editor of magazine 'Cinema' Abdur Rahman and filmmaker Golam Rabbani Biplab have been selected for this year's Fazlul Haque Memorial Award. They will receive the awards today, death anniversary of Fazlul Haque, at a function. The award giving ceremony will be held at 6:00pm at the Ball Room of Hotel Sheraton.
Fazlul Haque Memorial Award, named after pioneering cine-journalist and director of President (the first film for children made here) late Fazlul Haque, was initiated by his wife, renowned litterateur Rabeya Khatun in 2004. Every year the organisers select two individuals for the award - one for cine-journalism and the other for film direction.
Fazlul Haque was born in 1930 in Bogra. His elder son, Faridur Reza Sagar, is the Managing Director of Impress Telefilm Ltd, younger son Farhadur Reza Probal was once a popular TV anchor and now lives in Australia and daughter Keka Ferdausi is a noted chef.
In the previous years the award went to Fazal Shahabuddin and Saidul Anam Tutul in 2004, Ahmed Zaman Chowdhury and Chashi Nazrul Islam in 2005, Rafuquzzaman and Humayun Ahmed in 2006 and Hiren Dey and Soovas Dutt in 2007.
