Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-5 personnel, during anticrime drives arrested three suspected criminals and seized cocktails and Phensidyl from Nagar in Chapainawabganj, RAB sources said on Thursday.

Besides, a RAB team, on a tip-off conducted a surprise raid in Punchbibi Sub-registry office under Joypurhat district and arrested acting sub-registrar Sambhunath Karmaker, 52, and revenue collector Narayan Kumar Ghosh, 49, allagedly for taking bribe of Taka 4,080 from a land-owner and seized the money from their possessions.

During a drive conducted at Nagar village in Chapainawabgonj district, a RAB team seized 19 molotov cocktails and some bomb- making ingredients and arrested three persons in this connection. The arrested were identified as Mahidul, 38, Mohsin Ali, 40, and Saiful Islam, 42, all residents of the same area. A RAB team seized 100 bottles of Phensidyl during another raid conducted at Buzruk Harina village under Nawabganj upazila of Dinajpur district. But none could be arrested in this connection. The RAB teams handed over the arrested persons, seized money, explosives and drugs to the concerned police stations after recording separate cases in these connections.
