District police here in separate drives arrested an alleged robber from Chandanaish upazila in the district last night and a cow lifter from Charlokkhya area on the outskirt of the city early this morning.

The arrested Mohammed Ali, 45, son of Islam Meah Chowdhury of Chandanaish sadar area is accused of at least 12 criminal cases of various nature which have been pending with Rangunia, Raozan, Hathazari, Sitakunda, Chandgaon and Chandanaish police stations in the district, the police said.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Chandanaish police nabbed him while he was roaming suspiciously in the upazila sadar area at about 9 PM last night.

Karnaphuli thana police picked up Kamal Ahmed, 34, of Charlokhya area along with 6 stolen cows in the early morning today. The police said, Kamal, a notorious cow thief lifted the animals from a village under Pukuria union of Banshkhali Upazila midnight last night.

Separate cases have been filed with respective police stations in this connection, sources said.
