Hundred percent sanitation coverage will be achieved in the district within the next year (2009).

Sources with Department of Public Health and Engineering (DPHE) said the work on sanitation programmes in all eight upazilas of the district are progressing very swiftly.

Sanitary latrines are being installed in every house in both rural and urban areas the district. So far 90 percent sanitation coverage has been achieved in six upazilas. Hundred percent sanitation coverage has already been achieved in Haimchar and Kachua upazilas of the district.
