Weeklong Photo Exhibition from on Oct 11 in city

A weeklong photo exhibition titled "ACCU Asia-Pacific-ESD Photo Exhibition in Dhaka" will begin at Bangladesh National Museum Exhibition Hall here on October 11.
The Asia-Pacific Cultural Centre for UNESCO (ACCU), has organised the exhibition in assistance with the Embassy of Japan.
Cultural Affairs Adviser Rasheda K. Chowdhury will inaugurate the exhibition, said a press release.
The photography exhibition will include prize winning works of the "Asia-Pacific Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Photo Message Contest: Letters to Tomorrow 2007".
The exhibition will also display Bangladeshi artists' four award winning works including a 'Prize for Excellence'.
4 killed, 20 injured in road accident

At least three people were killed and 20 others injured in a collision between a bus and a truck at Pakulla under Mirzapur upazila in Tangail yesterday morning.
The dead were identified as Asma Begum, 30 and Ananda Mia, 20, while the identity of another person could not be known immediately.
Police said the accident occurred at about 6:30am when a Dhaka bound passenger bus from Gaibandha collided with a truck coming from opposite direction, killing three people on the spot injuring 20 others.
The injured were admitted to Mirzapur Kumudini health complex.
In another accident a young man was crushed under the wheels of a truck at Mostapur in Sadar South upazila in Comilla on Monday.
The identity of the youth could not be known immediately.
Police said the young man died on the spot as the truck ran over him when he was crossing road at about 7:am.
Police recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy.
A case was filed.
$3.33 m UNDP grant for environment-related projects

Bangladesh will receive US$ 3.33 million as grant to implement three environment-related projects in the country.
ERD additional secretary Md. Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan and UNDP country director Stefan Priesner signed three separate agreements on behalf of their respective sides at the ERD office yesterday. Senior officials concerned were present.
The projects, to be coordinated by UNDP, are preparation of second national communication (SNC) of Bangladesh, phase-out of CFC consumption in the manufacture of Aerosol Metered Dose Inhaler (MDI) in Bangladesh and institutional strengthening for the phase-out of Ozone Depleting Substances (Phase-IV).
Officials said the fund for the projects would be provided by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and Multilateral Fund under Montreal Protocol.
Of the projects, one relates to preparation of and submitting the SNC to the conference of the parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
The second project aims at phasing out the use of chloro-fluoro carbon (CFC) in three pharmaceutical factories by converting the production technology to use non-CFC.
The other project will enable the National Ozone Unit of the Department of Environment to continue to plan, organise, direct and coordinate all activities required for the implementation of the country's strategy in all areas related to the phase-out of Ozone Depleting Substances.
DSE witnesses fall for consecutive day

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) witnessed fall for the second consecutive day on Tuesday to continue market correction after the benchmark index crossed 3,000-mark on Sunday.
The DSE General Index (DGEN), the benchmark index, dropped 9 points or 0.31 percent to close at 2,919 from 2,928 points on Monday.
The All Shares Price Index (DSI) declined 11 points or 0.44 percent to close at 2,416 while the DSE-20 index of selective shares fell 22 points or 0.88 percent to close at 2,414.
Of the total 229 issues traded on the day, 112 gained, 110 declined and seven remained unchanged.
The day's total turnover dropped to Tk 4.67 billion from Tk 5.12 billion on Monday while Market Capitalisation fell slightly to Tk 1.015 trillion from Tk 1.018 trillion on the previous day.
Lanka Bangla Finance, Beximco Pharma, BEXIMCO, Summit Power, Union Capital, Titas Gas, ACI, GRAMEENS2, Keya Cosmetics and Keya Detergent were the day's turnover leaders in terms of value.
The day's volume leaders were AIMS 1st Mutual Fund, Keya Detergent, GRAMEENS2, Goldenson, Beximco Pharma, Keya Cosmetics, Union Capital, Lanka Bangla Finance, Miracle Industries and BEXIMCO.
Top gainers of the day were Goldenson, Keya Detergent, Modern Cement, Shyampur Sugar, Perfume Chemicals, Eastern Insurance, Zeal Bangla, Miracle Industries, Metro Spinning and Ran Foundry.
Top losers were BLTC, Glaxo Smith, Sajib Knit, Wonder Toys, Rupali Bank, Kay and Que, Mithun Knit, Pragati Life Insurance, Meghna Shrimp and Bengal Biscuits.
