Police arrested six professional gamblers and seized various illegal goods for gambling from a shop in village Dungrarhat in Rajarhat upazila of Kurigram district September 29 last, Police sources said.

The sources said, a police team led by Sub-Inspector Mahfuz Alam raided the shop of one Abdul Khaleque and arrested the gamblers red-handed while they were gambling and seized the illegal goods from their possession.

The arrested gamblers were identified as Abdul, Baten, 45, Motiar Rahman, 35, Tunil Mian, 38, Abdul Khaleque, 40, Akhlakur Rahman, 34, and Shah Alam, 35, of the same area.

A case was filed against the arrested gamblers with Rajarhat police station in this connection and all of them were sent to the jail hajat after producing them before a Kurigram court.
