Two electrocuted

Narsingdi, Sept 16 : Two teenaged boys were electrocuted at Nagaria Kandi in the district town Monday night. The dead were identified as Sabuj, 17, son of Abu Siddiq, and Selim, 18, son of Tara Mia. They both were the class X students of UMC Jute Mill Adarsha School. Witnesses said a torn electric wire fell on the two friends at about 10pm when they were returning home from a local mosque after saying tarabi prayers, leaving them dead on the spot, reports UNB.

Man robbed of Tk 10 lakh in Sylhet

Sylhet, Sept 16 : Muggers robbed a man of Tk 10 lakh at Badikona under South Surma thana on Monday while returning with cash drawn out from a bank. The muggers intercepted Ripon, of Dashgram village in Biswanathpur upazila, near Pragati School at about 3pm when he alongwith a relative was going to home by a motorcycle after making the withdrawal from Chauhatta Branch of HSBC Bank. They took away the money and fled the scene in a CNG-run baby taxi and a motorcycle. A case was filed with the police, reports UNB.

Accident kills one

in Dinajpur

Dinajpur, Sept 16 :A middle aged man was crushed under the wheels of a bus at Goreahat in Kaharol uapzila on Thakurgaon-Dinajpur highway Monday. The dead was identified as Mansur Ali,45, of Gorpipura village. Witnesses said a Dinajpur bound minibus knocked Mansur Ali down and ran over him when he was crossing the road in the afternoon. Local people barricaded the road following the accident, disrupting traffic for about an hour. Later, police removed the barricade, reports UNB.

Rapist gets life term in Chuadanga

Chuadanga, Sept 16 : A court here Monday convicted a man and awarded him life term imprisonment in case of women repression. The convict, Abul Hamid, of Thakurpukur village of Damurhuda upazila, was also fined Tk 10,000, in default he will have to suffer six months more RI. According to prosecution, Abul had affair with Parvin of the same village but when Parvin became pregnant following the relationship Abul denied to marry her. Victim's father filed a case on February 20,2004, reports UNB.
