India to invest $9.776 m in Dhaka EPZ

M/s.Lenny Apparels Limited an Indian company will set up a Women and Knit Garments industry in the Export Processing Zone here.
This 100 percent foreign owned company will invest about Taka 67 crore in setting up their plant and will produce women and knit products.
The company will also create employment opportunity for 1681 Bangladeshi including 61 foreign nationals. An agreement to this effect was signed between the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority and the M/s .Lenny Apparels Limited in BEPZA complex,here Dhaka on Monday.
Prasanta Bhushan Barua, member (Investment Promotion) of BEPZA and Waseem Mohd. Siddiqui, Chief Executive Officer of M/s. Lenny Apparels limited signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organization.
Brig General Jamil Ahmed Khan, ndc, psc, Executive chairman of BEPZA and other officials from respective organizations were present on the occasion.
Seven special trains for home-bound passengers

Bangladesh Railway (BR) will introduce seven special trains for homebound passengers in the upcoming Eid.
Besides, the BR will start selling advance tickets of inter- city trains on special arrangements on September 18 from Dhaka, Dhaka Airport, Joydevpur, Chittagong and Sylhet stations.
Railway sources said the advance tickets of all classes of inter-city trains of specific days will be sold from 8 am to 4 pm on September 18 to 24 under the supervision of officials, who will be given special duties.
Before Eid, the sources said, the special trains will run on Dhaka-Dewanbazar, Dhaka-Mymensingh, Dhaka-Cantonment- Rajshahi, Chittagong-Chandpur (two trains), Chittagong-Comilla and Ishwardi-Sirajganj Bazar routes.
Tickets for September 25 will be sold on September 18, tickets for Sept 26 on Sept 19, tickets for Sept 27 on Sept 20, tickets for Sept 28 on Sept 21, tickets for Sept 29 on Sept 22, tickets for Sept 30 on Sept 23 and tickets for October 1 will be sold on Sept 24 from Dhaka, Dhaka Airport, Joydevpur, Chittagong and Sylhet stations.
One can buy highest four tickets. Besides, special arrangements have been made for selling current tickets.
BR has taken special measures so that real passengers can buy advance tickets, the sources said.
Meanwhile, the BR authorities have taken decision to operate trains on weekly holidays from September 24 till day before Eid and from the day after Eid till October 9.
They also add additional bogies to all passenger trains, including the inter-city trains, the sources said.
Officials asked to be dynamic to ensure transparency

Information secretary Jamil Osman on Tuesday said government officials and employees should be dynamic to ensure transparency and accountability in the administration.
Only the competent workers can bring dynamism in the administration, he said adding there is no alternative to training in improving the proficiency.
The secretary said this while addressing the closing ceremony of 'Basic Office Management Course' for officials and employees of the Bangladesh Press Institute (PIB) at its conference room here.
With Director General of PIB Mohammad Nazrul Islam in the chair, the function was addressed, among others, by director of the training section M Jahangir Hossain, senior researcher Shamima Chowdhury, executive officer M Jakir Hossain and assistant accountant M Ali Hossain.
Jamil Osman said the government officials and employees should know the official rules and regulations as the knowledge is very essential to run the administration in a disciplined way.
He urged the officials and employees to apply their acquired knowledge in their respective working fields to make the PIB a dynamic organization.
He also laid importance on arranging more courses for PIB staffs to develop the PIB as a training institution with international excellence.
The DG said the PIB would arrange courses on English language and computer for officials and employees in future to groom them up to cope with the changed scenario.
A total of 53 officials and employees of the PIB took part in the course conducted by senior trainer M Oliur Rahman.
