3 clinic owners fined in Thakurgaon

Thakurgaon, Sept 10 : A mobile court conducted separate raids at three clinics in the town on Tuesday and realised Tk 70,000 in fine from its owners for various irregularities. The court led by magistrate Mujib-Ul-Ferdous raided the Eliza Clinic and Rodela Clinic in Hazipara area and Shusri Clinic in the bus terminal area and found irregularities, including inadequate number of physicians and nurses, unhygienic condition and admitting excessive patients. The court with the assistance of joint forces fined Eliza Clinic Tk 40,000, and Rodela Clinic and Shusri Clinic Tk 10,000 and Tk 20,000 respectively, reports UNB.

Robber killed in Natore

Natore, Sept 10 : An alleged robber was hacked to death by some assailants at Tarai village in Singra upazila on Tuesday midnight. The victim was identified as Lokman Hossain, 35, of the village. Local people said a gang of unknown assailants attacked and chopped Lokman indiscriminately leaving him dead on the spot. Police suspected that internal conflict among robbers might be the reason behind the killing. Police said Lokman was wanted in a number of robbery cases, reports UNB.

Heroin seized in

C'nawabganj

Chapainawabganj, Sept 10 : BDR jawans seized 4.3 kg heroin from Diar Manikchar frontier area in Sadar upazila on Tuesday night. Sources said a BDR patrol team chased a gang of smugglers when they entered into Bangladesh territory from India at about 9:30pm. At one stage the smugglers fled the scene abandoning the heroin. With this, the BDR personnel recovered a total of 9.8 kgs of contraband heroin from the district in last one week, reports UNB.

Mobile court realizes Tk 1.75 lakh in fine in Rajshahi

Rajshahi, Sept 10 : A mobile court in separate raids in the city realized Tk 1.75 lakh in fine on Monday from four restaurants, bakeries and sweetmeat shops for selling adulterated and stale food items. The mobile court, comprising the officials of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and the district administration, during their anti-adulteration drive found the bakeries and restaurants were preparing food items in most unhygienic environment. They realized Tk 50,000 each from Chilis Thai and Chinese Restaurant, Grand Banaful Sweet Factory and Rajshahi Mistibari factory and Tk 25,000 from Bishal Food and Industries, reports UNB.

Fake ACC Inspector held in B'baria

Brahmanbaria, Sept 10 : Police arrested a fake Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) Inspector while cheating traders at Aruail Bazaar in Sarail upazila on Monday. The arrestee was identified as Mannan Miazi, 40, hailed from Habiganj district. Local people said, Mannan came to the bazaar and started checking trade licenses of the shop owners introducing him as ACC Inspector. The fraud fined few traders Tk 3,300 as they did not renew their licenses, reports UNB.

Thief electrocyed in Munshiganj

Munshiganj, Sept 10 : An unidentified thief was electrocuted while he was stealing live electric wire at Paikpara in Tongibari upazila Monday midnight. Abdur Rashid, general manager of district Palli Budyut Samity, said the thief aged about 28, died on the spot as electricity passed through his body while he was cutting the live wire. Police on information recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy Tuesday morning, reports UNB.
