Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) recovered 1430 bottles contraband Phensidyl syrups after searching two city bound vehicles coming from Comilla in the early morning on Friday.

Doublemooring thana police of CMP recovered 430 bottles Phensidyl syrups from Jelepara area in the city after chasing a city bound car from Comilla at about 6.00 a.m. while 1000 bottles seductive syrups from Uttar Kattali area in the city after chasing a microbus also from Comilla town at about 6.30 a.m. on Thursday, a CMP press release said.

The inmates of both the vehicles, however, managed to escape the arrest after abandoning the contraband drugs on the face of chasing by the law enforcers.

Earlier, the police team signaled the vehicles to stop at City Gate area on Dhaka- Chittagong highway but they entered the city ignoring the police call.

Meanwhile, a team of CMP Detective Branch , acting on a tip-off , unearthed an illegal polythene manufacturing factory in Baluardighirpar area under Kotwali thana in the city at about 2 p.m. yesterday.

Police seized some polythene making materials from the residence-cum-factory and arrested Bashir, 30, son of Yasin Farazi of Neyamatpur under Lalmohan upazila in Bhola district on charges of manufacturing illegal polythene, the release added.
